U.S. Ties with Mexico Strengthened by Historic Goodwill Visit from Beloved

Baja, Mexico... Even
under the best of circumstances the now-legendary Idiot 
Sportsmen
(IS) can usually
be counted on to salvage humiliation from the jaws of mediocrity. And yet,
some things just can't be botched, even by the IS. Never
was this more true than on the first day of their recent fishing foray to
the Sea of Cortez where, with no clue as to why they were there or what they
would find, they ended up catching four sea bass in the 60 to 80 pound range,
and a dozen more 10 to 20 pounders.
Their charter captain that day was none other than Alex ("Alex"), the well-known local RV park operator and raconteur who moonlights as a lawyer for his fellow pescadores and is frequently paid in shrimp. As it turns out he is also the same Alex (code name "Alex") who is a close personal advisor to Mexican President-elect Vincente Fox. In fact, our esteemed captain left for Mexico City the following day to participate in the inauguration, taking with him as a gift to the new president several huge fillets from the day's catch. Idiot Sportsmen Sport Idiot Headgear on Kingfish Hunt
Sunset Beach, NC... Eschewing
the bright lights and glaring publicity of New York City and Rodeo Drive,
the Idiot Sportsmen (IS) stunned the fashion world by
choosing the sleepy coastal town of Ocean Isle, North Carolina to unveil their
latest innovation in fishing attire—matching
hats. The
chapeaus—cleverly
emblazoned with IdiotSportsmen.com and a picture of a fish—were
actually a gift from MarksLongSufferingWifeNancy. Woefully short of original
ideas themselves, however, the IS eagerly seized upon the opportunity to claim
this one as their own, and have in fact announced a worldwide distribution
and marketing strategy targeting upscale fishermen with low IQs.
Kingfish
were also caught on this stellar occasion, during which the IS were forced
to endure several days of pristine tropical weather, a four-bedroom beach
house, two World Series games, a couple well-earned naps, and tastefully moderate
amounts of Jose Cuervo, Glenlivet, and Absolut.
